Check thermostat
| - Before you remove and check the operation of the thermostat, make sure that the problems with the cooling of the engine did not occur due to insufficient coolant or weak belt tension. Ensure serviceability indicator located in the instrument cluster.
- If you notice that the engine is warming up for a long time up to operating temperature (according to the indicator), the thermostat may be stuck in the open position. In this case, the thermostat should be replaced.
- On the other hand, a long warm-up can be a result of the thermostat. It could do specifically or unintentionally (forgot to set after repair). Do not use the vehicle without a thermostat. The engine management system will keep the engine warm-up mode for a longer time. During this time the engine will consume more fuel, and the exhaust gases will contain a larger amount of harmful impurities.
- If the engine overheats, touch the upper radiator hose. If it is not hot, and the motor is overheated, the thermostat may be jammed in the closed position. Liquid misses the radiator and circulates in a small circle. In this case, replace the thermostat.
- If the upper radiator hose hot, it means that the thermostat is open and fluid normally circulates through the system. In this case, refer to the guidelines given in Section Diagnostics of malfunctions.

Check with the removal of the thermostat | Check of serviceability of functioning of the thermostat |
| - Remove the thermostat (see. Section Removal and installation of the thermostat).
- If the thermostat at room temperature is in the open position - it is faulty and should be replaced.
- For a rough check of working capacity of the thermostat hang it on a piece of twine in the container with water. The thermostat must not touch the walls of the container. Begin heating the container.
- As the heating water thermostat to be opened (that occurs immediately prior to boiling water). Since the boiling point of water is 100 ? C, the thermostat may not open completely (refer to specifications). Remove the thermostat and allow to cool. As it has cooled down completely closed.
- If the thermostat does not open when heated or close during cooling, replace it.
- When the thermostat setting, note the following points:
a) Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces and replace the O-ring; b) Place the thermostat housing, the right way; c) Tighten the cap and attach the required force; d) Install all hoses at the same place, then fill it with coolant (see Chapter Current leaving and service); e) Start the engine, warm up to operating temperature and check for leaks.
