Checking the oil leak by inspection
If contaminated oil big engine and check the oil consumption of the leak oil, examined the following possible locations:
- Seal threaded oil filler cap (unscrew the lid and check the seal on the porosity or damage);
- Gasket cylinder head cover;
- The cylinder head gasket;
- Flange connection to the engine ignition distributor;
- Consolidation of the oil filter: oil filter flange of the oil filter;
- Drain the oil drain plug (seal);
- Seal the oil pan;
- The place of the engine and gearbox (the seal on the flywheel or the drive shaft).
Since most of the oil seal failure is widely spreads over the surface of the engine, at first glance it is difficult to locate the leak. Search should be performed as follows: | PERFORMANCE ORDER | | 1. Wash the engine. Sprinkle clean engine means cold, wait for a while until it manifest its properties, and then rinse with water, covering pre-distributor and generator polyethylene bags. | | 2. Place coupling gasket on the engine and sprinkle with lime or talc. | | 3. Check the oil level, top up if necessary. | | 4. Perform a control check. As the hot engine oil becomes more fluid and faster results from damaged areas, to make a run of about 30 km. | | 5. Next, inspect the engine with a lamp to find the leak and fix. |
