The coolant temperature sensor (ECT)

The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the cylinder head and controls the coolant temperature and the ECU transmits a signal. The thermistor is used as a sensor which is sensitive to temperature changes.

Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases with increasing temperature. Output voltage of the sensor ECU detects the engine temperature and provides an optimum air-fuel ratio when the engine is cold.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the sensor from the cylinder head.
  2. By heating the vessel with water and placed it in tow, check its resistance.
